Director Luca Guadagnino approached Chen Li to create the headlines for his film. “I wanted to allow the audience to immerse themselves in the world of the Perlman family. For the opening credits, we took Xerox pictures of statues and placed them on Professor Perlman’s desk with various objects (pens, typewriter, glue). So you see images of the statues with the details of his everyday life, along with the credits. I didn’t want the “indie cool” typeface. I’m glad I found Chen Li. The titles are handwritten, so it’s like an invitation to the audience,” said the director.
